Penalty Point Disqualification
This can often be avoided by arguing “exceptional hardship”. We have an extremely good record of success in winning this argument in Court. Legal Aid will not normally be available but we charge competitive rates. If you think you may wish to use such an argument in court please call us now in order to discuss your prospects of success with an experienced defence Solicitor. There is never a charge for the initial call.
Special Reasons
Sometimes you will have “Special Reasons” for not being disqualified or not receiving penalty points on your licence. Special Reasons can apply to a wide range of driving offences. If you think you may have special reasons please call us now in order to speak to an experienced defence solicitor. We will establish your prospects of success and will normally be able to provide you with a quote in relation to our costs. There is no charge for the initial call.
Timescales
Timescales of hearing dates are provided by the Court. How long we spend at Court is entirely dependent on the Court listing, other cases in the Court list and the complexity of your case.
Other Road Traffic Offences
We are experienced at defending a wide range of traffic offences including speeding, driving with excess alcohol and drunk in charge. Please call in order to discuss your case with an experienced defence solicitor. We will normally be able to advise you about your prospects of success and provide you with an estimate of our costs.
Costs
Costs for a single short hearing are between £396 and £950 inclusive of VAT and incidental disbursements, depending on the location of the court and whether an interpreter is required.
Costs for a trial hearing, Special Reasons or Exceptional Hardship arguments are between a further £1000 to £2000 inclusive of VAT and incidental disbursements depending on complexity and the location of the court. Disbursements in respect of experts’ reports can increase that figure.
If you are charged with dangerous driving, taking without consent, disqualified driving, drunk in charge or driving with excess alcohol where your reading was very high then you may be able to obtain legal aid if you are on a very low income or in receipt of benefits. We will let you know if you are eligible for legal aid.
